CELEBRATING OUR OPEN STUDIO EVENING

More than 70 people stopped by our Open Studio event last Sunday - artists, neighbors, and families of all kinds enjoying local BBQ (shout out to Dragon's Breath), sharing stories, listening to music, learning about marionettes, taking tours, and imagining themselves in our newly updated studio spaces. Special thanks to Cecily Donnelly for her current exhibition Landscapes & Structures.

Your book group. The Parlor. Ten chairs. Ready.
Your yoga practice. The Hall. Begin as you are.
Your drawing session. The East Studio. Good light.
Your writing circle. A table. Waiting.
Your making . Slow work welcome.
Your quilting community. Spread it out.
Your idea. Let’s hear it.
Not sure yet? Come anyway.

It was a joy to spend time with Lucy Ann Lance on 1290 WLBY last week, and we’re thankful for her thoughtful conversation and continued support.

Listen to the episode now!
And thank you to journalist Brad Heineman of The Clinton Local / Tecumseh Herald, who attended Rhythmic Dimensions, percussionist Jonathan Brown’s performance.

Our Stories
Silly Ambitious Art

Our names are Katherine and Jon. We met in 2020 and immediately hit it off, bonding over our shared love of silly, ambitious art. Silly, ambitious art requires space and lots of it. But that is a problem for people like Jon and me, because we’ve always lived in smaller spaces.

Eventually, our art really scaled up when we decided to take on the build of a 26-foot geodesic dome. After creating our materials list, we looked around our current space and realized we needed to expand, as our setup wasn’t going to cut it.

That realization is what pushed us to find a new workspace. Read the whole story here.
